Bringing Training Full Circle: No-Gi Grappling Meets Real-World Scenarios

At A+R Tactics, training is never one-dimensional. It’s about learning skills that complement and enhance each other, taking concepts from one discipline and applying them to real-world scenarios. That’s exactly what happened during one of Kenny Florian’s No-Gi classes—when the group decided to take their grappling skills into the shoot house for a full-circle training experience.

From the Mats to the Mission

Jiu-Jitsu teaches control, positioning, and movement under pressure—but what happens when you take those principles off the mats and into a tactical environment? That’s what this group wanted to find out.

Instead of just rolling in class, we combined grappling with room clearing, focusing on:

🔥 Grappling for retention – What happens when a struggle for control breaks out in a tight space? We worked on maintaining control while protecting a firearm in close quarters.
🔥 Room clearing with resistance – Moving through a structure while factoring in physical engagement changes everything. The group learned how to integrate their grappling into close-quarters encounters inside the shoot house.
🔥 Vehicle defense & shooting from inside a vehicle – Fighting inside a car is completely different than on an open mat. We worked through realistic scenarios, training how to retain control, escape danger, and transition to a firearm when needed.

Personalized Training—Because Reality is Unpredictable

The best part? This wasn’t a pre-planned curriculum. It was a customized experience, built around what this group wanted to learn. That’s what makes training at A+R Tactics unique—it’s flexible, adaptable, and tailored to your goals.

Whether it’s integrating striking into combatives, combining Jiu-Jitsu with firearms training, or taking your marksmanship into force-on-force scenarios, we believe that all training should work together.

Learn. Adapt. Apply.

Every skill you learn should enhance another. Training with world-class guest instructors like Kenny Florian isn’t just about refining techniques—it’s about understanding how those techniques apply to real-world situations.

This group wanted to push their training further, so we made it happen. If you’re ready to do the same, we’re here to personalize your training, challenge your skills, and help you bring it all full circle.
